That youtube video of that russian space junk is interesting.

The writing on that strut is not "HN3". As it is in cyrillic, it's actually "низ" which I think means "bottom" in Russian, so that's just telling someone that it is the bottom of the strut, when they bolt it together.

The componentry looks old, but it might just be because it is space-hardened.

Did that get washed up on a beach? Have you run a geiger counter over it?

Gold & Platinum fields in Japan & they are very Rich still today only Traditional Old style panning and sluice boxs were used .

Sorry to steal Daves thunder & Lightning :

Metal Detectors are simply not Sold in Japan if & when they are a $1,500 Model gets sold for Yen350,000 -Yen400,000 3-4 Times the correct retail price because they are all Imported & merchants in Japan almost always sell Imports are 3-4 times their original costs.

This region has its own Dialect & Japanese who visit from the South or Honshu can't generally understand the language or read it correctly.

I read Japanese script from Edo period 1600 -1868 which is very different from Modern Japanese script & most Japanese cant read the old script today, I can because I am a antique dealer that sells Antique samurai swords and make it my business to Study & Research & have done so for forty years.

A small selection of my sold archives.

Today I am more interested in GOLD & in particular This type of GOLD Here ;

http://www.facebook.com/...2&type=1&theater

My first visit to Hong kong in 1973 in a gold store in Kowloon I laid eye's on the same nuggets of gold that were selling for $10,000 & $15,000 per nugget.

Today in Beijing these nuggets will sell at auction for a small fortune Each or $100,000 or more.

There are only two known places in the world where these nuggets can be found that the Chinese value so highly as auspicious good Luck charms .........& I know the regions where both locations are.

My proposal or expression of *interest to seek four (4 ) investors is to make locating the Prime source of the nuggets Quicker !.

Four Experienced Metal Detectors + myself can cover a Lot of ground in 6 weeks as we Pinpoint each nugget found on Topographical maps I have in my possession & each night with Google Earth we can see the days finds location on my pc .

WARNING : In the event your thinking you can go it Alone with the intel I have posted & some of you might ? .

Your venturing in very Hostile Unforgiving Dangerous Territory ........make no mistake about it.

A *Lot of people go Missing in this region.

Its rugged like NZ Wilderness regions, only with a lot more dangerous elements combined with flash floods and landslides and Earthquakes & Typhoons, ANGRY territorial Bears, Aggressive Giant Wasps that will kill you!, Wild boars & Deadly reptiles.

As well as local Hunters that that Dont like visitors.

Five years ago 6 Japanese in a camper van were ripped to pieces by a group of BEARS that tore their way into the camper van in this region and slaughtered the occupants Tearing them apart .............Body parts were strewn in a 500 meter diameter from the camper.
The description of the slaughter on NHK tv was Graphic as the pictures were, some of the victims were eaten alive from the arsehole up.

A smart person does not Learn from his own mistakes ...............................he learns from someone else's.

If your Seriously Interested in this venture and have the capital, I would like to hear from you.
I am coming to NZ early January 2013 if you would like to meet me.

The results of the waka trip-

2 days and 2 hours of a third day resulted in these, the nugget was the last thing I found.
Sluice box is responsible for the small stuff. The untitled png. is front and back of the nugget.
And no the dirty stuff int he fines is not sand its stuff attached to the gold as in quartz etc.

Hey guys and girls (not sure if any frequent this forum) I got out for a bit of a look at a new spot on saturday with a mate of mine. It was pretty hard going with the creek being excessively steep and generally terrible to work but we found a few bits. Historically some really good gold come out of this creek with nuggets in excess of 20oz but I didnt even get over 100th of an oz haha. All the same its allways good to get out to a new spot. All the gold is rough and not far travelled, my mate has found some with quartz adhering on previous trips. Here's a photo-

You are doing well Matt - keep it up - I dont comment often but I follow your progress and see that you have some great days out. Was trying to get David to keep me company for a trip after not gold but native copper up the Roden behind Richmond.

Well Graham funny you mention the native copper I was up the Rhoding river today! Sadly we only had time to go as far as the old smelter (the wife had a job interview at 4pm). I didnt find any native copper as I would probably have to try in and around the old shafts. I did find some of what is presumably copper sulphide and a piece of vein quartz shot through with pyrite. Also found a boulder of argillite which the native maori made tools out of. If you do come up here after the copper, providing I am able to, would come for another look with you.

Thanks for that Matt and much appreciated. Try to track down this book - High Hopes By Mike Johnston. I think you will find it most enlightening.

I have seen some extremely nice native copper from up there and found recently so it is there - biggest piece at just under 1kg

Very interesting statement you made about the Argillite as I had not long since read a fair bit about them in the book I mentioned above and a visit to the Argillite quarries was on my agenda to - if I can make it that is!

The road goes right to the smelter although I think ordinarily the public leave their vehicles at the roadend. From there on its private land. Takes an hour to the smelter and another hour to the mines proper, although there are 2 locations with several tunnels at both. Has David been out after the gold much? Do you know much abouth Rhodonite, i know you can find it up the Wakamarina but am unsure what it actually look like.
