Rank: Gold Ingot Groups: Registered Joined: 8/12/2011(UTC) Posts: 171 Location: Wherever I may roam Thanks: 187 times Was thanked: 130 time(s) in 78 post(s)		Went to the gold panning competition in Arrowtown, not much success though a good time was had by all, good to meet up with a couple of forum members, explored about the Maniototo with some good prospects, very simplified diagram of a gold vein on the golden progress info board, stayed at the lindis pass hotel with a big brown rat! Lindis river was in flood but was nice to have shelter at the doc site. The Shag river was very high but got a colour in the top gravels, a lot of standing water about the paddocks near Waikouaiti. I was up that way a couple of weekends ago and prospected the lower reaches around Hindon. I've always wanted to look at the upper parts like yourself. Did you get access via bucklands crossing? Found some colour in the odd crevice but not great. Maybe a good stream for a dredge? Other creeks around that area also look promising. PM me if you want to swap some location stories as it seams your in the same neck of the woods as me Cheers
