nice haul. that's the sort of find that keeps me out there every day. you never know whats gonna turn up.

must have got the heart going. thought i was going to have a heart attack when i found my 18 grammer back in august.

you want to take a sluice in and collect up all the fines and flakes.

many thanks for all your nice replay, that feels just as good as the finds. I am re-living the buzz over and over again, thank you all. And there is more good news. Gavin from the Forum was able to retrieve some of the photos from the deleted SD-card. To thank Gavin for his efford, i have invited him onto the next trip to that spot. So here is a bit more story and photos.

After levering the visable, wee 1.4 gram nuggy out i rushed around for nearly 2 hours to find a place to pitch the tent. Fruitless i decided on a high sand bank, about 3 meters above the water. Reluctant i pitched the tent and sussed out a section of bluff and bush to run, just in case the water rises. After tuneing the detector i walked less than 20 meters to the first bedrock outcrop and the detector screamed at me, i thought yeah right that must be a big piece of junk, i flicked the detector into coin/target ID mode, no signal, so i scratched some gravelaway and up came the numbers -8,16,-4,40 etc. all over the show. My pulse went up. Then thats exactly what the X-Terra70 does in the gold field over a good target, specially if the coil can only get partly over the target. As the inner and outer ring of an concentric coil interpret a target different but over both rings the ID will become more stable. Well, dipense on ground mineralisation and the size of the target. Gold usually shows up between 18 and 38 on a bench test. Anyway after scooping some more sand and gravel out with my hand i felt bedrock and with the next handfull that yellow thing came out. My first thought; thats not possible, can't be right or real. I just stood up and went to the tent leaving everything behind. Looking at the nugget rolling around in my hand. The cuppa tea went cold. How do i deserve something like that. It took a bit to collect my head and went back, to carry on those 2 hours until dark.

Here are some photos of a 2.76 gram nuggy and a 24.77 gram nugget that was jammed in a crack on the surface and visible. Never saw it until the detector found it.

Hey thanks for your thoughts . I have been thru the same scary situation myself in past .I know how you felt. mine was only 29 gms. i also had a 17 gm one once which had that same reddish /crimson colour yours has got not sure what does that but think its been pretty idle for a long time maybe a large pool up stream from your find would be worth investigation .Of course Id say everywhere would be worth a gink haha when you return. And as lammerlaw says keep it quiet where it is mate till youve had a good crack yourself.Dont forget your face mask and wet suit etc next trip. Great story cheers.
