Whats the go with the council claim just downstream of the DOC area on the Louis?
Can you just rock up and start shovelling or do you have to jump through council hoops?

Hi Overdog, my understanding is that the original claim was gifted to the council by the Louis Creek Mining society for the purpose of public fossicking much like the DOC held area and under the same general rules, hand held equipment no motors or pumps, that sort of thing. So yeah, just rock up there and give it a go, what's the worse thing that can happen if you are following the general rules? I don't think the council police the area so you should be good to go.

I plan to be there this weekend and the following one as well weather permitting.

Cheers, Ken.
