Waihi Beach, my old stomping ground. Me and my Groundhog which was a pretty old VLF/TR detector even back then (1990 ish)

Try the sand dune areas too. Lots of hanky panky goes on in there. Bowen Town beach and the grassy area were pretty good too. Lots f groups and families went there for picnics. Went there as a kid on Soccer Club and Workingmens Club trip, and I'm in my 50's now.

I found a towel spill in front of the Waihi Beach Surf Life Saving club, 5 rings. Never been matched. Great beach. Welcome to the site and go the mighty Chiefs

I used to live and work in waihi beach for 3-4 months at a time picking and pruning kiwifruit back in the early ninetys.Lots of expensive bachs on the beach front back then .Probably hundreds more now.Try Orokawa bay ,bit of a hike but should be not too bad.
