Hi guys. Its good to be on this GOLD forum. And thats what it is, a GOLD forum. Other treasures was set up to cater for the influx of detectorists that came aboard the site looking for somewhere to be. We were given this page kindly and we all agreed to keep our stuff on this page. (There are exceptions of coarse). Looking at the forum home page at the moment you can see that it is bombarded with metal detectorists in most catergories. This is causing unrest amongst quite a few members. I think we should all tighten up back to our page and advise all newcomers to do so as well.
Some are aware and some of us are not aware of this situation at hand.
Im just trying to do my bit for the forum. We dont want to lose this privaledge. Have a think about it. All good.

thanks for the comment
i do enjoy looking at all your detecting finds and find it easy enough to find them in one location
i share theses photos with my wife and follow most finds with interest

i agree that it is better to comfine to the one site the only concern is that if you detect gold where will that fall

keep up the posts and photos we do enjoy (feel sorry for for the north island boys) i have 5 or more ghost towns with in 15min drive well maybe 30 min takes a city boy that to get out of town

look us up if down this way
cheers keith and caz

Hmm in here is a little confusing i think.....basically any natural gold no matter how you got it = show n tell...other treasure,s is exactly that.

Just need to change the forum topic to remind people. Something like "Show & Tell - natural gold"

GOLD is GOLD no matter how its found. Sluice box, pan, detector, and belongs wherever one see's fit to put it on the forum i guess. The point im getting across is that casual everyday detectoring for non GOLD related items needs to be contained. We did this when other treasures was changed and it worked well. We can keep this trend going by steering /advising newcomers to stay within this page. Leading by example is a good way to start.
It is good to chat on this topic sencebly rather than the heated discussions of the past.

Too complicated. Mainstream detectorists and treasure hunters need to come off the HOME PAGE, thats all (i think, who am i to say really).
Possibly a more distinct page title like one of these might help;

All non GOLD related metal detectecting.
General metal detecting.
Metal detectoring.
Metal detecting for treasures. (a goodie)
Other metal detectoring.
All other metal detecting.

Other treasures was working well.

As you suggested, education and steering newcomers in the right direction is the way to go.

Another name change is not going to solve any problem, if indeed a problem exists.

It ain't broke. It doesn't need fixing.
