Jase, Be careful at Moke & Moonlight as they are CLAIMED & you will be stealing someone elses gold. This can cause problems for the recreational fossicker. Ignorance in this case isnt bliss. Check out the permit map on crown minerals so you know what is what. There are a lot of areas getting claimed now & you need to keep up with it to be save.

JW :)

JW :)

I've been wondering how you check where the claims are on a river. The permit maps I've looked at before have been in a large scale and very general.

My van is nearly organized and will be heading back up to the Coro to start of with a bit of sluicing near my sister's farm. I'm not too concerned about finding any yellow yet.... more about organizing my pack, tramping a few hours into the bush, and seeing how the sluice operates etc.

Hi Roman Holiday,

You'll find a link to the Crown Minerals Permit Map on the links page - http://www.paydirt.co.nz/links.aspx - should help you find out if someone has a claim on the river. Don't find the Crown Minerals Permit Map the easiest map to use though!

Hi Roman,

I've just put together a gold claims map, should help you work out where's fairly safe to go without hearing shouts of "claim jumper!" ;)
