Those are great picks Starflash, used them in Aus, try get one that has a super(rare earth) magnet in the end or get the magnet sepaerate and fit it yourself; they are a must for speeding up searching for targets and quickly grab any metal junk.
I think it looked like the one of JW's in the other thread had a magnet?.
Or the Magnet can be got from Auckland somewhere.
Keep the magnet away from your compass, credit card etc; My compass went beserk after getting near a magnet!.

Cheers and swing low and slow.

Why don’t you blokes just go to a “Warehouse” store and buy a “Westminster” brand light grubber with a sort of “Pick” on the end?

Take it home, and just grind it to a satisfactory shape, cut the handle down to size, recess the end, and glue a suitable "Super" magnet into it--Quite easy to do!

There so cheap to buy, you can loose, or ruin them somehow and not be concerned about it.

This is a tip from me.

Cheers---Colin.

the 600mm pick is 78 aus plus postage could be a bit costly, poss 30 postage. total 108 aus say 140nz. i think the 500mm is too lite weight, my last one was a 600mm and was just right.

no store in aus is keen on sending more than one so i guess you have to order yourselves, best quote was from coiltek but they were less than keen, otherwise miners den slightly more but better to deal with, check the web site, they said $30aus to post.

i am about to go down to queenie on business and a few days fossicking so have had to make do with a bit of a toy pick, will post photos if i get lucky

I been thinking, the amount of digging i am going to do,i might as well get the westminster pick from that big red store, which colin suggested.
Just got exited it was a spur of the moment thing.
