That really sucks-you jump through all the hoops and pay a shed load of money to do things right and this happens.you gotta feel for the guy.
Zane Mirfin is right about the Pearse-I found a couple of blokes in there a while back and tipped them the wink about DOC being parked just up the road and got told to go away, but that's not the exact words they used...

An interesting article and shows the anomalies in the system - it makes me wonder just how many people troll sites such as this one to get hints where to go and otherwise steal ideas and places from decent guys.

As a matter of interest my son caught one of the active members of this forum plus a mate poaching with metal detectors on my property and these parasite and leeches have no intention of seeking permission or following legal processes to go gold fossicking and also seeking legal loopholes in the law to carry out their activities.

If you take out a mining licence or have a spot to go then keep it as quiet as possible and by all means share your finds with others here and assist them with advice and ideas but never even hint where you find your gold unless you are prepared to have an altercation with a mongrel.

Thanks for sharing that interesting snippet as it points out the lengths some will go to in order to find gold including taking the risk of losing their gear and remember well that some slimeballs join these forums simply to capitalize out of others and having no loyalties can only be classified as users and blood suckers.

No but one contributes regularly here. Before I name and shame anyone in public I like to catch them face to face as I shant name and shame without giving them a chance to make their lamebrain excuses to me personally.

I dont think it pays to do anything that puts the advantage into the hands of areholes so a .22 is out of hte question BUT dont you think it isbetter to shadow them and when they put their gear down just quietly sneak up and flog it after all they are not supposed to be there so if their gear is taken form them then it cant have been theirs!

I clearly remember a sign on a sheep run once - 'Trespassers will be shot - survivors prosecuted' - today even tongue in cheek humour as this is frowned on by the authorities and their minions and puppet Darth Vader look alikes who go under the name of 'police' and who are more likely to arrest the sign writer for making threads than the shit at whom the sign is aimed at!

What about those wildlife motion sensor cameras... Maybe these would be a good investment to protect your claim.... at least you have photo/video evidence of who has no respect for your claims... If you have Mobile coverage at your claim you could even get it too message your photo with a pic of when it captures something ...... Just some idea to catch/prevent these guys... Since the govt/police/doc wont help

Also maybe making the Permit Map for private claims private so not any public member can jump on the site go there's 3 claims near me already im going there tonight........ hate to say it but almost advertising spots where gold is found...... :(

If this is true, and you are providing them evidence of people on your claim stealing your stuff i dont understand how they cannot act on it as this is stealing and you paid for the rights here... also if they get hurt its your fault...... I think we need to take this into the public and get this seriously looked into more... Yes we can just except they will not do anything.... But im more keen to fight these #$%^ and it gets me so mad how this is turning out...

If they're not prepared to enforce the law, then we may as well declare anarchy and forget about licensing.

Reading some of the comments above it is interesting to note human nature and the f***wits who use others and make use of others and capitalize out of others - they see a permit map so think that is the only place where there is gold and go there!

These f*** knuckles cant think for themselves - most of them are a sandwich short of a picnic and troll through here as I said above to capitalise out of others - they poach claims because they cant think of looking above or below the claim or cant be bothered checking to see if there is a claim. Personally I look at it from the perspective that if they are on my property and unlawfully taking gold then it is fair and square to unlawfully take whatever gear they are carrying but being a sinister fellow I would prefer to follow them then when they put something down and turn away - its gone. Dishonest maybe but no more dishonest trespassing on the property of others, than poaching the property of others or taking the property of others.

Should an instance like this ever end up in court action I am sure that a lawyer could base his defence for the land owner on the precedence set in a court action in Christchurch in the 1970s when a city slicker took his family mushroom gathering out toward oxford way and the farmer observed them wandering around his paddock so followed them back to the city and when they went into their home he in turn went around to their garden and helped himself to some vegetables - this came to court and was promptly thrown out by a common sense judge who stated that the city bloke had no right to take the mushrooms without permission and the farmer was merely returning tit for tat. To me this means that if anyone is on my property taking gold or hunting without my permission then I have a right to take their stuff as well. I dont know how valid the analogy is but the thought is there!

They cant be bothered phoning a claim holder or land owner to ask permission mainly because they are gutless wonders and cowardly little bastards and they are prepared to take the risk of being caught rather than doing the decent thing

the mushroom pickersemind me of the story in rotorua when i lived there where a farmer had a truot stream running through his place he saw some fishermen on his place leavinbg rubish behind a gathered it up and by tracing the number plate of the car found where they lived and droped it all over there front lawn the brown stuff hit the fan and it ended in court but in those days the judges seemed real people so it got thrown out
