Nice to finally find a nice producing spot :)

It's taken from kinda in the banks / kinda in the water. By the time we've dug out a crevice as far in to the stream as it'll go we're up to our thighs in water, reaching down up to our armpits. Been handy being in wetsuits!

Yes, def some left in the patch - but got all the easy stuff I think. Will prob try and find another spot further up the stream for next play though. Think it'll be next summer though as it was getting pretty cold in there as it's a gorge and wasn't getting much sun at the bottom. Will be interesting to have a quick go at one of the crevices after some winter / spring floods have been through to see how much gold turns back up there.

gavin,

you want to head in there in winter when it is cold.

the water levels will disappear dramatically as most of the catchments water will freeze meaning you won't be in as deep in your wetsuit.

maybe u need a thicker suit?

haven't been out much down here. busy with my house and still getting rain every bit so the rivers are up and down. shotover been pretty low generally tho.

need to get out a bit more before the exposed ground freezes solid.

already had a good fall of snow.

was over in alexandra yesterday.

snow was quite low on the hills over there also.

simon.

Hi Simon,

My wetsuit prob isn't the best - it's only my 4:3 winter wettie for surfing.

Will test out your winter theory regarding water levels though as wouldn't mind getting back up there to scout out some new spots. Cheers for the advice ;)
