For gold you havent got many places to choose from! For general detecting try Rabbit Island(be creative as this has been flogged)or the reserves... Always meant to try some of the riverside reserves up the rivers but never got round to it!Let us know what you find!

Any place gold had been found before is the best place to have a look. The old timers definatly didnt get it all. For detecting your best bet is to hit exposed bed rock areas along the rivers edge or if your coil is water proof, in the water itself down to shallow exposed bed rock. Bed rock in the old sluiced workings that the old timers exposed with there water cannons.
It is a BIG ask to exspect to be told an exact location, but as I said, where gold has been found before. Read books on gold history of your intended locations & what was found. Research is the key. Books are full of clues & places. Simple really.

Happy hunting

JW :)

Hi TY25,
the Wakamarina is a good starting place, generally speaking the futher you head up stream the better off you will be,gold can be found way up on ledgers,4x4 access tracks, quarts seams that have worn down below the bedrock are also good catchment.
If you are new to detecting make sure that you dont expect to much.
Cheers Steve
