I can't speak specifically for your guys neck of the woods since I live in California But I do know Gold!! It is quite common for prospectors to dig gravel bars clean out cracks ect ect..Me I rarely sluice my main tool kit is a 4lbs hammer some chisels and some spoons..And I put most prospectors to shame.. Next time you are sniping bedrock just don't dig out the debri in the cracks and call it quits break the hell out of the crack take another few inches out of the bottom even if you can't see any dirt or gold..Look for Hairline fractures as you will be surprised at the gold content. Why run 20 30 buckets a day when all I do is about 15 to 20 pans!!!May take you awhile to Identify these paycracks and their charateristics but once you do you will be all the better for it..I hope everyone is having an awesome year and getting some good gold!!

That's a good tip thank you. Gold does seem determined to get in the lowest tightest spot and could have been there for a very long time so I guess it all makes sense.
I shall watch those videos now....

Seems a bit brutal but it obviously works-might be hard to fly under the radar bashing the shit out of a chisel tho!

Way to go I really enjoyed your videos, we have a few cracks in the creeks up our way but tend to snipe them and not be so brutal, guess I should start packing a dumpy hammer and chisel as well, thanks again.

I will admit that after I get done with an area it can look a little devastating. But believe it or not after the rains come later this year, Most of the evidence of my work will be gone.. Nature has some pretty good ways to clean up after me!!Anyway Peteatpapaaroha If you are working creeks you might to do a liittle research on the ART OF LOAMING!! Maybe you find the source of your creeks gold..

Overdog I use the Hammer to stay under the radar! with all the ridiculous mining laws here in the states and them tightening their strangle on the small scale miner one must adapt and overcome..Now I do admit that sometimes I wonder if they were aware of the extint I take handtools and the damage I could do only using them. (pretty soon mining will be illegal anyway)To many stupid ECO Terrorists!! Anyway I hope everyone is having a great day..Today is my day off and I intend to kayak down the SF American River 11 or so class 3 rapids and some of the most awesome country a man can ask for.Always runnin and gunnin...

Cheers for sharing that madmarshall - looks effective! I'll be taking a hammer and chisel next time I go detecting now as I'm sure I've come across a lot of spots that would probably produce quite well like this!
