eagle, gingerbread, jw and gavin were right, sort of!, they were a garnet type gemstone of sorts, but not a garnet as is widely known they are very close to a ruby just missing the one vital ingredient. im checking with a gemoloigist in dorkland to see if they may have a value. keep you posted, topaz, rose zircon??????
