Kids cup unearthed while lifting junk signal on homestead site (early 1940's according to owner) last time I was serious about this game in the 1990's. I'm guessing late 1800's, judging from the style...?

So.... either
a) Site is older than landowner thought, or
b) Cup is not original to this site...

Haven't found anything else yet to authenticate the cup, and as original owner sold up I'm currently waiting on an okay from new owners...
I might give them another fortnight then go and doorknock...

Now that's something a bit different on this forum.
Any pottery maker on the base?

Is it cup sized or more like the size of a mug? Does it have a handle? The reason I ask is that I saw a collection of antique Victorian shaving mugs awhile ago, and this looks very much like one of those. If you google "Victorian shaving mugs", you'll see what I mean.

Had a handle, missing. Was added onto the cup after casting, and had a fleur-de-lis style attachment point.
But "A B C" isn't something I'd associate with shaving LOL...

No makers marks, and the bottom has a spiral swirl which looks to indicate it was hand finished.

It is a cup rather than mug.

Just had another google starting with victorian shaving mug, and it isn't one of those, but found two others of a very similar style design/construction/graphics which are 1830's vintage. Staffordshire transferware sort of stuff...

Might contact Auck Museum, see if they can lock it down a bit tighter.

Just curious really, and adds to the provenance for the collection.

90% fit...
Aside from the design, this is just about a perfect match, size, handle etc... so I'm going to tentatively call it pre-1850

Hopefully someone can give a more accurate date
