I've just upgraded the forums to the latest version. Please let me know if you experience any problems!

There's some new anti-spam settings, so I've turned some of these on to see if they help.

Bit late now as wasn't as straight forward as hoped. Will have a play when time allows to see what new options are now available.

Cheers,
Gavin

Sorry about that, seems to be a more pronounced issue with the upgrade :(

This intermittent issue was there before, but with the upgrade it's now become a lot more regular. They've made the code available so I'm actively looking in to it and trying different things that might resolve it. Bit of a hard one to resolve as it's some combination of things that includes server settings / version and amount of traffic I guess. So I'm not actually able to re-create the issue on my own laptop. Have to keep having stabs in the dark at things that might resolve it then pushing them live to see if it goes away.

Gavin,
Could you change parameter for Scaling inserted images please,
New upgrade has very low scaling and doesnt allow to expand image

Chris.

Yes, this is really annoying me at the moment. Just spent the night trying to fix but only getting frustrated. I'm got a day off on Wed so I'll have another go then. Failing any progress I may have to roll back to the old version which is a painful process in itself.

Apparently it's a known issue with the forum software, but one you don't learn about until you encounter it yourself :(

Being a software developer myself I'm looking in to the code base to see if I can figure it out.

Apologies to all about any frustration experienced - I share your pain!

If it was PERL, I'd help out but it's asp.net so you're on your own, buddy!

upgraded forum working well here.
there were some 'time-outs' and error messages yesterday,
but it was only happening when using previously stored bookmarks,
and not when navigating from within the site.
best of luck with the code wrestling Gavin.

I think it's mainly happening when there's a few logged-in users browsing the forums, i.e. prob worse after work hours.

I've been provided with a potential fix to try so I'll make that live later tonight to see if it nips the issue in the bud. Fingers crossed!

We're now running a nice shiny new "YAF 2.1.0 BETA 20131031" version of the forum - trying out a fix very kindly provided by the creator of the software. Fingers crossed it will resolve all the issues caused by lots of logged in members hitting the site at the same time.

Sorry to those of you that were online before I pushed the update out tonight, the site had just gone down again anyway so figured then was as good a time as any to push the update through!

It's either the site's been down so much that they couldn't register :P

Or the nice new anti-spam functionality available in the new version are working nicely.

Caught a few new registered spammers myself before they got a chance to post though, so they'll still be a few slipping through. But looks like the new functionality might be helping :)
