yea being a day trip had to justify the 3 hour drive each way by getting a full day digging in . plus i had ants in my pants and just wanted to be out and about

that's brilliant!
so what's the story? just drive to danseys pass and start digging?
there must be more to it than that surely!!!

thanks for showing the results though.

I went tramping in the same area over the weekend but had the pan strapped to the back of the pack. Found colour in the Marewhenua as well as each of the little tributaries - in each pan. Look forward to playing around in summer with the sluicebox.

haha no story behind it i had my head down digging like a bat out of hell.

the bigger flake above the coin was my first shovel of material into my pan to test a spot befor i set up the sluice.wasnt a too bad spot. oh and there was another panner up there, offered me sum pills sed it would make me dig twice as hard haha i kindly refused his offer.

Interesting article in this morning's Otago Daily Times about a couple of Canterbury men who pinched a sluicebox from Dansey's Pass to use for a model to make their own but the ChCh earthquake destroyed it before they could get it back.

ya no big story to danseys pass..it is a public place to fossic..the only time it cost you anything other than fuel is if you go right into the campground to do it.
they charge you 5 buck to spend the day at the camp ground.
but from the camp grounds to the bridge if you cant find gold there is something wrong.
