What would be great, would be if someone out there knew of an old homestead site and could get a permission for a group hunt on that private land. Anybody got a contact of this kind that might be agreeable to a few friendly detectorists on their land?

The main reason I have suggested a group hunt on private land, is that a group hunt on public land at this time of year, with the soil as dry as it is, is just not a good look in a public space. Any more than two or three people decending on a public spot in the height of summer, digging holes in dry dirt, is bound to catch the wrong sort of attention.
We need to be careful out there at this time of the year. All it will take is one major complaint from Joe Public, to ruin it for us all.

Good on you for mentioning that NB8W. If no attention is good attention then I guess we could do with a lot of it! *8^)
