Today I wanted to go re-visit the spot where I had found my 36 grammer a while back, that was not to be as the forestry guys were busy working and had closed the road. Rather than going home I went to a place 20min away where I had not found anything before but from reading there should be some gold. I had given up in the past as the creek was near vertical. This time I pushed on and after a while the creek flattened out and started to look really promising. The further up I went the more workings I encountered, judging by the workings the gold goes right up to the head of the creek. Had to get back for a birthday party so rushed over the ground and only detected the odd crevice in the end. Came away with the 4 bits below for 1.3g. Very rough looking gold, hope there is a bit more there for me!

Nice one Matt. You got to be happy when a change of plan ends up with gold in your bottle.

Good luck out there

JW :)

So my brother and I returned to the creek and despite nice bedrock and lots of workings I found just one more piece. It was a 0.9g piece of crystalline dendritic gold which is a first for me and nice to look at (first couple pics). After going over that first creek we climbed up and over into the next creek which was quite an exercise. Steep almost bluffs the whole way. Shortly after getting into that creek my brother got a very faint signal in the bedrock which after a bit of bashing turned out to be a 1.6g nugget (see pics of him holding it). That's his biggest piece to date, only second time on detector. So with both of us on the board we carried on down the creek getting bits and pieces and finished up with 5.2g between us (we always go 50/50).

Well two new creeks in two weekends and gold on both trips, what more can you ask for!

Nice work! I'm jealous - you seem to get out and about all the time on gold missions and do quite well. Keep it up ;)
