So with the danseys being shut up around the camp etc I see there is still a lot of the river below the camp etc and some of the creeks feeding into the danseys what is people's thoughts on these?? I'm a fabricator hear in oamaru and have just built a high banker for my self yes I know it's not to be used but I'm trying to find some one who has a claim in the area and doing a deal with?? Also js pan and small sluice box also and names or phone numbers or people who are also keen??

Has anyone tried any of the other rivers around oamaru?? Like the upper reaches of the kakanui Clifton falls the wainak?? Am looking to go out for some prospecting this weekend anyone keen to go?

Try trotters gorge , area is mainly fine gold from the horse range conglomerate but the odd small picker and nugget turn up in the bedrock up from the DOC camping ground. Lots of exposed bedrock and if you find the right crack it can be worthwhile. The further upstream tends to be better gold.
