Hey folks, went for an outing this weekend with a mate.
After our 30 min walk/climb into our spot we set up the sluice in a good looking spot and started running dirt. Things started well with me spotting a small bit of gold sitting on bedrock before we even did any work. By about 1pm we had a couple of quite small nuggets (about 0.2g) and bugger all else. My mate decided he wanted a break from digging so went off with his gold bug two. I had left my detector at home as I was keen to do some digging on this day. While he was away detecting I got stuck in with my two ton winch and crow bar and eventually cleared a bit of bedrock. Completely knackered I sat down and had a coffee while I awaited my mates return in order to detect the freshly exposed bedrock.

When he returned it took just a couple of seconds waving the detector to get a signal. Initially it wasn't that loud a signal but got louder as I dug into a small crevice. Finally a nugget showed itself and it was a nice 1.5g piece. I was a bit disappointed with this as the signal had sounded much louder than I would have expected (but it was my first time using a gold bug two so was not at all sure how they respond to things), quick wave over the crevice and it was just as loud as before the 1.5 g nugget came out. With just a little bit of further digging a nice flat 9.6g nugget was revealed! What a beauty! That was all from that crevice and despite frantic digging to uncover more bedrock over the next couple of hours all we got was two more tiny bits.

What a good day all round!
