Curious to do a bit of seeking myself, nothing major but I was wondering if there are any good areas in the Whangarei/Northland region that are good for finding gold?

Thanks

No loose gold in Northland as far as I'm aware, it's all in hydrothermally altered rocks and requires chem processing to extract.

Parahaki (I've seen some old drives at Kensington which I believe were gold), Puhipuhi etc and the galena vein at north end of Ocean Beach or the various quartz sinter blows dotted around the north would be your best options to find any if it existed.

One of the Coromandel companies did an investigative borehole program about 15 years ago - They haven't returned, and although I know at least one hole had some economic gold levels in it, the depth was prohibitive for extraction.

Coromandel would give a better return in terms of time and travel.

Good luck.
