Looks like someone in the area has a new sandpit to dig in lol! Sure to cause a stir.
I don't get coin nuts that do this. there are plenty of places to dig that aren't active sports grounds where thousands are spent keeping good surfaces for the community to use.
You'd think permission would be sought. then again why would they grant it. any digging is going to take time to return to its before state no matter how careful the digger is.

I suppose it is fortunate that there is no reference to the hobby in the article, but that won't stop conclusions being drawn by the park police. I just hope the vandal gets prosecuted and named and shamed.

That looks like straight up vandalism.. Maybe for a rival club or something.
Its totally done on prepuce ...the plugs are not even next to the holes .
You wouldn't do that if you liked metal detecting at all:)

The pic certainly looks like willful vandalism rather than any other cause. Certainly hope the culprit(s) are found and brought to a swift justice before fingers start being pointed in 'possible cause' directions.
