could anyone tell me when you cross the swing bridge at nelson creek which stream goes to the fossicking area. think from memory there were a couple to choose from and looks like its about 1/2 km up stream. does that sound right.

I couldnt work it out either so a local showed me this cave that goes through to a nice spot...about 5 to ten mins from the swing bridge. Lots of garnets.

I always thought the recreational area started where callagans and prices creeks left nelson creek but the map shows them as starting some distance upstream. There used to be a sign just downstream from the swingbridge. If you are staying in the motorcamp you can get some nice colours in the gravel on the creekbed just above the swimming hole. There is no permit over this area as far as I am aware and I think the permit map will confirm this. I have panned there on several occasions and no one has objected.
