Welcome back on board Shane. Great to hear that your move went mostly to plan.
Congrats on the Trime......a real rarity in this part of the world I'm guessing. Certainly have never seen one dug here before. Even the guys IN the States get all excited when they happen upon one.
Only minted in 90% silver from 1851 to 1872 I believe, so yours is an early minting of which they produced 671,000.....totally awesome dude!

Cheers guys, its great to be out hunting again and chatting with you all.

Yes it was a bit of a shock when i pulled up the Trime. Thought it was a well worn Threepence at first. Was in great condition when i picked it up could make out the 6 pointed triangle. Was all the more sweeter when i got home and made out the date.
Havnt found a silver since last year some time.

A George 3 penny could be about right. I will get out me micrometre, do some measuring and see if i can i.d. those two coppers.
The well worn one is smaller in diameter.

After a measuring and a search i can only guesstimate what they could be.

One copper 28.5mm approx.
One copper 27mm approx.

Early George 3 Half Pennys.

Cheers for the luck.
On the road again, thank heavens it's only a couple of hundred meters up the road or so - and back.
Cloths line is a concrete floor but the surrounding area looks very promising.

A fun day out in the Bay with Mudwiggle. Had a great time, cheers for taking me out.

Trip # 194

1 goldie, 4 coins all up. A musket ball, a Royal Artillery button and a silver ring.
1968 NZ 10 cent
1985 NZ 2 cent.
2003 NZ $2 coin
2008 Aussie 10 cent

All the finds, spacejunk included. The big round thing was dug up by Wiggle, tis a marine capstan foot switch me thinks (Nilsson Engineering LTD Auckland NewZealand - CAPSTAN- )

The better finds of the day.
UserPostedImage

This find appears to be some kind of sear or trigger component. Will send my friend a pic - see what he thinks.
UserPostedImage

An old silver ring, does appear to have markings, probly 925. And the Royal Artillery button showing three cannons under a crown. pre 1855.

Happy Hunting everyone.

Yeah, was a good trip - always more fun hunting with a buddy, and for you to finish that day with the ring, perfect.

I'm still thinking rifle cane for that trigger, sort of thing an officer of the crown might carry back then...

Well we were both hoping for a heater part.
Sent pics to a partner in crime and he said that it's made of copper not brass so it wouldn't belong to a heater.
Most probly a latch of some sort off some kind of instrument unknown.

Space 1999

Ace 350 v's Euro Ace

Had the pleasure of using a brand new Euro Ace the other day. Ordered one up for a retired type foss mag fan and took him to said local boat ramp for a test run, sure there was coin awaiting, he was happy as.
My idea of further field testing ended in guitar and refreshments so no specs avaliable but both machines performed the same.

Special day today, one shade of grey off a half century so shouted myself a couple of hours needle work at Bay of Islands Ink.
Anyhows, went about the last week to clock up a few hunts at various spots around the Bay in order to do a big post.
Hit a near by one yesterday on the way home from being inked... and there was a tiny drop off/edge running along the entire beach. The odd coin had fallen here with the shifting sand - producing a coin line, much to my amazement. Was a fun hunt with the best coin being a 1971 USA 1 cent.

Trip # 195
Euro Ace trial run at the end of the road.

Trip # 196
Northern side of the bay.
6 coins all up.

Trip # 197
Permission hunt with Mudwiggle.
1944 NZ Half Penny
2 x NZ 5 cent

Trip # 198
Southern side of the Bay.
3 x goldies,11 coins all up.
1971 USA 1 cent

Nice peaceful setting
