Gold Claim to work for a percentage?

Just some idea I'm playing around with (still just a vague idea at present)...

As our house is in the red zone of Chch and my partner has lost her job I figured there's not too many ties holding us down at the moment. Perhaps it's a good time to have a mini adventure and experiment with a different source of income for a while and explore a new location.

I've been playing with the idea of properly working a gold claim for 3 - 6 months with a dredge. As it would probably take a while to get a brand new claim established, and people selling them on trade me seem to want crazy amounts the other option that occurred to me is to work someone else's claim giving them a percentage of the rewards. Anyone open to the idea or know someone that would be open to the idea?

Any general advice is also welcome.

Hey gavin yea ive thought about this idea too as i have 2-3 months off over the summer.... would be nice to spend the summer splashing around in a river some place
And now....On sandy beaches and muddy soil, rings and coins await my coil!

Ok I'll put it bluntly, like gavin id also be keen for an arrangement like he mentioned. Either lump sum or percentage would be negotiable of course. I worked in the vineyards last summer and im sure as hell not doing that again.
