I was out hunting with a friend when my detector gave a bleep and nearly deafened us with a solid brass signal. We dug it up and there was a shattered kids mug and so much iron signals, so we dug deeper and we sound what we thought was a window cleaner. Turns out it was a gun. I am going to hand it into the police in the summer holidays when I go back there.<currently fixing image>

I forgot to say what kind of signals would usually give out a gun? And it was a pistol.

How good is the ace 350? Haven't heard much about it... Gonna get myself the F2, the one I have now is okay but is like a cheaper mine lab... Still, rather that than nothing.

I wouldn't bother submitting the gun - Police wouldn't be interested in that state.

It's a really neat find though - Need to passivate it or at least soak it in a warm thin mineral oil to help stop it rusting out over time.

Someone on here will be able to ID it, I'm sure.

Keep up the good work.

I am pretty sure that the gun is a .177 air pistol like my brother had as a kid unscrew the knob at the back end to load a pellet and the whole barrel lobs forward when you fire gutless as from memory. His had a metal grip though if I remember correctly.

I retract the Gat Id and now pronounce it to be a Hi-Score 814 made in Germany, remember that the inner barrel lobs forward when fired.

Thanks all. I will notify them anyways- they'll probably just think I'm talking trash.

WestieDigger- the gun looks quite like it. Mine is probably an older model with a wooden handle as there is still the remains of wood on it.

Soak it in molasses and water, then treat with an anti rust product.

Had one of those when I was a kid. Weak as, the Webly was far better. On that model you push the barrel in, to get compression. The sight emplacement gives it away. Looks like your one is loaded and ready to go. On firing the barrel jumps out. Well I think that is how it all went. Frig many years back now.

Thanks. The place was probably a farm at one point, so that might link it. Thanks.

Being that you asked, the 350 is awesome. It now sells as the Euro Ace. I would recomend you getting an Ace 250. They are an amazing machine, easier to pinpoint with and very light. The Ace series of detectors were the worlds top selling machines for a while there and probably still are.
