Hi Folks..
Yep it arrived today. And I am impressed. Been testing and I would say it is not an entry level Detector. To good for that lark.
Will do a full evaluation and report back. For the price you pay, it has some neat features. I am not going to do these so called " gunfights" between different brands and detectors. Those prove nothing. The Gofind40 will have to stand on its own and I will do the pro's and con's.
More pro's that con's I might add.

The go find 20 is neat but not for New Zealand- it only has four modes upon the 40s six modes.

Hi All

What an amazing little machine the Gofind40 is. When you open up the box. Well you think it is a toy Detector, but that is only an illusion. Yep she's made of plastic, so its not a Sherman Tank. But I bet it is polypropylene, unbreakable stuff. I know my plastics as I do plastic welding.

Try this depth for a Detector that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. $2.00 coin at 18 cms. Thats 7.08 inches. This is on my test bed, Heavy river sand in plastic bags. I don't do air tests, they prove nothing. At that depth the readout does give me an iron signal. But I am a kinda dig everything man anyway. If you bring the coin up a bit, the readout started to give a good readings. Flashing coin. I am totally amazed to be honest. Minelab you have done it again.

Hi All

Being a rectangle coil, bit like a rugby field, well a tad smaller lol, it took me a while to get the pin point feature worked out. But in five minutes I had mastered it. What I like is that as the coil is open design. If I carry a small meat skewer, a wooden one. Once I pin point then I can stick the skewer in the ground, through the open aperture of the coil. The area is 5 and a half inches by two and a half inches, just the right plug size.

The Minelab gofind 40 just loves a fast swing. And the recovery time is excellent. Its so light you don't feel a thing. Just retested that $2.00 coin at 7.08 inches. Did a real fast swing, and yep it started giving me a good signal a coin, I got iron then coin. It jumps between the two. And that means with the Gofind40 dig me dig me dig me.

Still amazing me, $2.00 coin at 8 inches. I put another sand bag on. Was a straight iron/trash signal. No coin beep at that depth. Frig its almost as good as the Etrac. Nothing at 9 inches so I maxed it out.

Hi All

Here is a good vid on the Gofind40. The Bluetooth application connecting to your Smart Phone looks interesting. Must try it one day. You even get a wee bit of GPS

Try being a little bit more polite than just demanding an answer, and you might get a reply.

Like Hi Trev. What have you found the maximum depth to be

A Mad Hatter.

Hi All

First test is with Teardrop Lead sinkers. I call them my gold nuggets, as I don't actually have any in these sizes lol.

My test bed is river sand, so its pretty inert. No mineralisation. So I run the Gofind 40 at full sensitivity. So results in the field could be different depending on the ground, esp if you have to back the sensitivity back a notch or two. These are the maximum depths I could achieve with a readable signal. And as we know Detectors tend to loose their discrimination capabilities the deeper the target. So this test was just to see how far I could push it. The signals came in as iron. So when you push the Gofind to its max, its a dig everything machine. Much like a PI. When you use it like I have. I could have raised the target and got a better discrimination signal, but that was not the purpose of this test.

1 oz Lead Sinker 16 cms (6.29 inches)
2 oz Lead Sinker 17 cms (6.69 inches)
3 oz Lead Sinker 18 cms (7.08 inches)
4 oz Lead Sinker 19 cms (7.48 inches)

Little Kiwi the Gofind 20 does not have Pinpoint mode or a back light. Its better to spend a few more dollars and have those bells and whistles

Hi All

Right more data.

Small silver Ring 14 cms

Large Junk Ring 17 cms

Alluvial Gold Flake. Maybe quarter of a gram. Or less. 4 cms.

All were showing as iron, as I said I am testing max depth rather than discrimination depth.

Hi All and Chrispy

Here is the link, that shows how you can use bluetooth with the Gofind40 and 60.

And GPS and save plot. Pretty cool but to complicated for an old bugga like me, I think. But who knows. He uses google apps for Android but its also available from Apple App store for those have Apples IOS 8 and above or Android 4.3 and above
