I was approached by a ranger today telling me that i couldn't detect on any parks and that, i had to be below the high tide mark...it all sounds fishy to me, but so far i haven't found anything online...is the rugby park at Western springs private property? help

Did he offer any credentials as to being a Ranger? And a ranger for who?

he was in a ranger uniform with auckland city council on it and he had a ute with the same logo.

They don't want people around Western Springs - historic area.
Stick to bush areas, they don't mind that.
And make sure you use the slit cut method with a cloth. So you leave no trace. Also water your holes at this time of year.
