I'm looking for an entry level metal detector that can be used for gold and for checking out beaches and parks.
Here is a list I have been looking at.....can you please advise me on which is better....
and it would be used in the North Island if that helps.

Metal Detector Minelab X-TERRA 305
GARRETT ACE 350 METAL DETECTOR
Garrett Ace 250 Metal Detector
Gold Bug (can this also detect coins etc)

Hi gohard, yes the gold bug will find coins and plenty of them...if you look at my post Coin hunting gold mine under OTHER TREASURES you will see pics of all the coins and stuff i have foubd with my gold bug..also my post..MY FIRST RINGS..
i dont know about the other machines you listed but i can tell you that the gold bug does very well at coins and relics with the 11 inch coil..and it comes with the 5 inch coil for gold...
I havnt been gold hunting with it yet but i know rgmcbrid has been and has found a small nugget a bit bigger than the one i have...
i did a feild test with my nugget about a week or so ago against a fisher F2 and a minelab E trak and depth wise the gold bug pick up a signal deeper than either of those two machines did..so for enter level my personal opion is that you wouldnt go wrong with the gold bug.

if you decide on the gold bug get ahold of rgmcbrid on here ..he is the new zeland dealer..but what ever machine you go with i hope you have lots of great finds.

Hi there Gohard. I recently got an Ace 350. Mean machine. Dont know about hunting for extra small gold but it does beep small fragments. Entry level i say the ace 350. Good hunting.
