Hi all,
I've finally retired (wahoo!), and now have time to get out with the Garrett AT Gold.
I would also like a pin pointer as well, but what make/model?
Probably not an el cheapo eBay model.
Any advice re what's good (or bad)?
I would also enjoy a bit of company too, so any member in the Nelson/Richmond area wanting a detecting companion to go out with then I'd like to hear from you.
Cheers.
Edit: Maybe a Garrett Pro Pointer AT.
They are water proof down to 10 feet so may be able to cope with the West Coast rain!!!

I have used an X-Pointer exclusively for the last year or so, out performs the Garretts I reckon - particularly in terms of falsing.
There are three models out, the 'land' model is rainproof, no worries there. Have used it many times to stir around in salty soup looking for stuff.

Thanks for that.
I've just looked at the 'Wader' model, and watched some tests on you tube.
You are right. The Garrett seems to really, really suck big time.
I can find the Deteknix in Australia, but not NZ, so I've fired off an email to them.
Other option probably will look at a Whites TRX.
I had never heard of Deteknix until I read your reply mudwiggle, so I'm much obliged.

Thanks to all of you for great info.
Mintcar, I'll call you through the week about that. It's a good idea, and very helpful.
Much appreciated.

Sorry, but that detectdirect link doesn't work.
"Server not found" message.
Maybe they are defunct now?

Nope, earthscan is a no go as well.
No longer selling, and a new guy has the selling detector business now.
He only supplies Nokta and Makro (and they aren't fully waterproof).
Probably have to get a Deteknix in from Aussie.

Thanks oneounce.
Now bookmarked that site.
I'm currently checking with an Oz supplier, but at the moment he is quoting a price including the Oz GST, so I'm asking for him to quote minus the GST as it's being exported from Oz.
I'll compare the true prices then.

Sorted...I've ordered the Deteknix Diver from Oz.

Seems like a decent make/model.

Wouldnt of thought it too hard to get a good pointer in NZ, but there you go.
Nice one KGbee, happy pinpointing.
