Hi Steve...if you don`t get any info by this weekend I will get the measurements from my friends 4in Keene.
I have a 3in and a 3in oversize and a Dahlke 4in midjet which would be difficult to fabricate.

Thanks for the reply,I enjoy making most of me gear as it is half the fun.
Winter has really set in and I am looking foward spring as so I can get back up the river.
I mainly detect now but cant seem to rid the bug of sucking up the paydirt once in a while.
Thanks again
Steve

Steve here are some measurements. Tube is 4inx36in. Eductor is 12in long. Enters tube at a 15 degree angle 6in from the end. Eductor is 2in OD then tapers to 1 and 1/2 OD. Last 6in of eductor are cut on a taper until it runs out and welded in place. Eductor does not have to be 2in. some are 1and1/2in although 2in delivers more water. Overall length could be shortened to 30in. Get back if you don`t understand something...hard to describe.

Hi Steve...I am currently building a dredge on wheels for the smaller shallow streams. I too enjoy designing and fabricating my own equipment, I am building it so that every thing/hoses,motor,nozzles,jet etc, can be carried all at one time. Sluice box has a 2ft slick plate, then a small drop riffle system followed by carpet and miners moss under #9 expanded metal, still going to add some riffles in case a big one rolls through, will be testing it out next weekend.

Hi Rege,

hope all goes well with testing your dredge.Having a set of wheels makes great sence, why break ya back if you dont have to.
Let me know how ya dredge performs
I will be starting to stick weld some parts of me dredge this weekend... there could be some choice language comming for the workshop.
Have a good weekend
Steve

Hi Steve, and others who may be interested.

Have you seen this Nozzle, it has an extra little pipe on it with a turn on/shut off valve fitted. open the valve and you can divert some of the pressurised water flow into the gravel to break it up a bit, or create a little puddle on dry stuff to suck it up.

Cheers---Colin.

Tried to upload the photo but made some sort of Boo-Boo and it only uploaded the file as an attatchment!!!
At least you can see it if you open it.

Regrets for this.

Regards Colin.

Hi John.
God, You`ve got some pretty impressive gear for this prospecting game.
And at least 6 detectors. Must have cost a small fortune to acquire that lot!
Heavy to lug around?
Well, all credit to you in this venture, you deserve success!!! its good to see somebody as keen as you are, I wish you the very best.

A bit different from in my day, when we had to make do with what was at hand, and even then, some of that wasn`t very efficient, plus there were no 4wd vehicles to get into the rough stuff, we walked for miles.

I quite like your method of using a garden hose to distribute water from th pump, as it a bit more flexible to use than the nozzle that I came across whilst surfing the net.

Cheers---Colin

Hey Colin, cheers for the info,
I did see the nozzle in action on youtube last year, what a simple but effective way.
Winter has a firm grip at the mo but I am heading up the river next week to help keep the fever at bay.
Cheers for the ongoing input
Steve

Hi John----Greetings.

Impressive setup, I bet that lot sings along beautifully.
I should have mentioned before, “No flies on you mate” you do things properly!
I’m jealous. : ) I never had anything like that, but perseverance helped a lot.
There’s heaps of others out there that should take a leaf out of your book.

How did I know you had a few detectors? Lucky guess, I guess.(where’s the Gold bug 2.)
Another guess is that your missus has auburn/red hair too ?

Cheers---Colin, you take care too.
