Hello all, I am looking for where to get hold of Quartz Reef maps of NZ. I was in AUS last week and was showen a collection of maps for one area in Victoria. Got me to thinking about NZ and where to locate Quartz Reef maps.

Any help appricated. Thank you.

Colin (another member of these forums) here has just put me on to these guys - GNS Science. They might have the data you're after.

Attached is a gold-quartz lodes map I pulled off their web site.

There's also a page linking to various databases which might be useful:
http://www.gns.cri.nz/minerals/databases.html

There's even an interactive map which seems pretty rich in information (but not very intuitive to use!):

Hello,
Thank you; in addition, I have found this crown minerals prospectivity map https://data.crownminerals.govt.nz/MEDMGUEST/system/mainframe.asp quite useful for old mine locations and volume of find etc.

Glen.

Awesome map Gavin! Nice how it shows the allevial gold.

Edit, do all the colours refer to gold bearing areas?

Hi RH, I suspect not - but I'm no geologist so can't say for sure. Probably indicates rock types gold is known to be found in?
