HI There I am new to gold fossicking and will be running a sluice box so was wondering where gold is found in a river i have been told on the downstream side of boulders is this correct? when processing material behind boulders do you just work your way down to bedrock? I have also been told the inside of bends where there is sort of a gravel bar is this correct and once again do you just work your way down to bedrock? Are there any other places to look for gold in a river? I will also be having a go at sniping and i know even less about that.
Any tips or help on this would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks Sam

Reading a river is pretty important, this picture may help, pretty generic.
