Yeah why not include it, you will just need to get the chinese to nz adapter at the warehouse
~cough cough~ at least they were good enough to release the serial number so people can check.

A lot of money, you would hope that it would find many times it's worth and quickly. Be great to see one in action down here!

I note that none of those watchers who were given the serial number to check have lodged a bid.
Hope its the real deal but Turners wouldnt know one if it bit them in the arse.

Anyone ever seen a blue battery harness before? These are normally grey except on alibaba.
Also is the blue of the control box too light.
Has anyone got a photo of a real GPX5000 pcb

I'm pretty dubious on this. could be a great buy if someone checks it out in person. looks hardly used. but then it has no charger.
has anyone cross checked the serial. personally i wouldn't trust an outfit such as this to know the difference between a real deal and otherwise. what sort of time does the law cover you for a return if not genuine?!

Looks like Turners are having 2nd thoughts as well, the auction now says:

"Closed: Fri 5 Jul, 12:34 pm.
This auction was withdrawn by the seller before the expiry date."

Because they have stated in the auction that the detector is genuine, then if it turns out to be a copy they will be liable. Bet they checked it out with Minelab themselves and found out the answer......

What's to stop the counterfeiters from getting the correct serial number from 1 minelab and running a few hundred copy's of that number and so on ?
I'm sure some register there genuine detectors but in time what will happen...

I questioned turners about it being genuine. the likes of turners/cash converters usually say it's the real deal unless questioned. i know they said it was genuine to at least 3 others but how are they to know. i bet they may not have even checked. but as gingerbreadman pointed out, what is to stop the counterfeit ones all sharing the same serial as a genuine one? nothing. i guess the only way to find out is to actually get someone to use the item and see what happens. the results should be pretty obvious.

Minelab have recently updated their security checks for the GPX's. From their website:

Remember - there are now 3 ways to verify a GPX Series Detector

Visual Inspection: Use the Viewer strip in the 'Verify your Minelab' brochure to see the Genuine, rainbow-coloured, hidden image and word (or code) on large Security labels. This Visual inspection should be combined with SMS or Online verification procedure.

Online Verification - Minelab Authorised Dealer access only. Ask your Minelab Authorised Dealer to verify your detector online.

NEW SMS system for GPX Series detectors only. Send the GPX Product Serial Number with hidden rainbow-coloured word or code to the SMS verification system. If you receive a 'Minelab YES. OUI. SI' message AND you have a rainbow-coloured security label, you have a GENUINE MINELAB.

But I can still see copies made despite the new SMS verification system for new detectors. If it is a second hand detector then the original owner should have registered the serial number with Minelab for warranty purposes. I would have thought that Minelab's system would highlight the fact that more then one of the same serial numbers are being registered and thus all but one of them would be a fake.

hi all, i emailed minelab service and sales they told me the serial number did not match a unit made by them said the serial number was missing a zero, weather or not turners made a mistake in writing the serial number who knows , there also was no conformation of any warranty on that Gpx 5000 , guess turners are looking into it as has been withdrawn ,why did they not answer all questions on trademe..
