We have booked and paid for a camper van for the 22nd-27th July. Roughly the first two nights we will be a the Waihi camp grounds and do day trips into the Karangahake Gore and Golden Cross Rd. I see there are a few Fords on the map, so if the rivers are high, we won't cross them. We'll have a look at the Waitawheta River (a Howick jeweller did well there) We'll save the Komata Reef Rd for another day.
Then we plan to stay at Tararu ,Thames for a night or two and do a day or two at Maratoto. Any time left after that, we'll fossick around Thames where we have found a few very small specks and sample rocks.
So if anyone would like to join us or just pop in to say Hi , you are all welcome. Of coarse if anyone has any hints or suggestions, you are also very welcome.

Hi EAF.

I was up the Waitekauri last week. There are no fords on the road. It is tarsealed and all streams are bridged. The gate before the Golden Cross mine area was locked but if you wished I am sure you could walk up and have a look around. I had a look up the Cascade and Junction streams but found absolutely zilch.

Hope the weather treats you well.

Thank you for your reply, sorry I couldn't thank you earlier. Had computer problems. To cut a long story short , I had to buy another computer.
