Hey everyone,
Anyone got any tips/advice on where to go in or around the Buller? Am pretty new to the gold game....only been out 3 times, but is there more to be found in other creeks than the Brittana???
Thanks

Welcome aboard. You've picked a very addictive hobby . All I can say from what I've learnt is research research and explore. And eventually you'll start finding.

Take a trip to the library. Have a read of a couple of the gold books there, such as "Gold for the Taking" and "Gold Trails of the West Coast". That will give you a good introduction as to what to do, what to use and where to go.

I also recommend those two exact books....there's a video/cd that goes with "gold for the taking" also.

Research is key. And you have found a mountain of knowledge here. Read some books read the forums and take notes I dare say there are members here that have knowledge superior to what is in many books. At the end of the day the old saying rings true "Gold is where you find it".

Best of luck - even if you don't find much/any just being out there is good enough, just a little frustrating *8^)

Thought you might like the name. Was thinking of going up for a quick walk next Saturday to access the location. Found an easy way into the location.

This spot "X" must be pretty damned good. Everyone seems to go there but I can't find it on wises.co.nz or any other map. :)

Any of the creeks that flow into the Buller River south of Lyell have good colour in them. Fiddlers Creek in the upper reaches of the Lyell River has uranium and lead too (small quantities). Take a Radmeter with you when you explore that area, you'll be pleasantly surprised!

Tramping through that area is not for the faint-hearted but. The cliffs that aren't vertical are overhanging!!
