Hi Guys,

Kellyco droped me a line yesterday to let me know that the new Fisher Gold Bug Pro will be out at the end of the month.

If it is as good as its brother the Gold Bug 2 it will be an ideal starter for someone new to the game.

It operates @ 19 khz with a 5 inch waterproof DD coil and has coil and relic modes.

Priced at $500 US it might be a good back up detector while on extended trips up the river.

Happy Detecting

Steve

Hi JW,

I thanks for the reply on the new GB,

Settings on the x-terra as follows

Noise cancel to auto

Tracking ground balance

Iron mask at preset level 5

Sensitivity between 22 and 25

Threshold to suit operator same as volume.

The building game here in Nelson has been fairly quiet too,I have weathered the storm but only just.

I had planed to buy the new GB for my partner to have a go as she also loves the outdoors but if the reviews are not that flash I will hang onto me dosh.

I would love to step up the the 3000, 3500 ect but the tax man has struck a blow to my already thin wallet.

Happy building in QT,and I bet you have already planed your first weekend golding trip.

Cheers Steve

Thanks for posting that info on the X-Terra, even though it wasn't aimed at me, I will try use it with my 705!

I have not seriously gone gold hunting with 705 as yet but have only dabbled a little here and there!

I need to get a set of earphones as I am a bit hard of hearing!

Have you managed to find much gold with your X-TERRA? Cheers, John.(new on here)
I try to learn from the mistakes of other's, I haven't got enough time left to make them all myself!

Hi John,

Welcome to the site!!,

sorry for the late reply but I had to dash over to the Coast to see the mother-in law and I have not long been home.

Great to see another member is in the brotherhood of detecting!!

Are you using the 18.5khz DD 6 inch coil for your gold detecting?, and are you detecting in bedrock, crevices ect.

Cheers
Steve

Hi Kiwijw.
If your going bush down south,(or anywhere for that matter)and want to save a bit of weight in your gear, consider a short length of plastic guttering for an easy prospecting sluice.(can be cut in real short sections, and forced into each other for desired length.)this sluice can be lined with "PUNGA ROOTS" (a real good and handy matting medium)or anything with similar characteristics.(old miners cheap trick to save on cartage labour)

Kind regards---Criticol.
