hi all i see some dredges on trademe with motors and pumps sitting pretty high above the pontoon would you get better suck lowering them as much as possible ?

Hi
I don't think the engine hight is to crutial but the height of the sluice is the lower you have that the better the suction will be as the material isn't getting lifted as high .

Yep, generally the shorter the suction lift, the better the pump efficiency.
Also makes them easier to prime.
