I was looking for an ultimate test of ATX vs GPX, came across a youtube video in which both metal detectors came face to face with DD coils, Garrett ATX comes with DD by default so Minelab GPX was tested with DD coil. Garrett ATX is only US $2200 as compare to Minelab GPX5000 is US$5500.

In short Test results are below:

Minelab Gpx 5000 2 out of 4 in (Normal Mode) 2 out of 4 in (fine gold Mode)

Garrett GPX5000 4 out of 4 in (Normal Mode) 4 out of 4 in (Non Motion Mode)

Garrett ATX vs Minelab GPX 5000 Youtube Comparison VIDEO

Let me know what you guys think of above test results or any personal analysis :)

To make the test "fair" by putting a DD on the 5000, is akin to putting gnarly four-wheel drive tyres on a ferrari when racing it against a hilux.
Look at which detectors are finding gold, not at the technical specs, sales-pitches, or advice from people who have never detected a gold nugget.

Hi Garrett should put the 8" mono on the ATX and compare it to see if it would pickup the four nuggets Or the 20" that would be interesting
