After their successful release of their X-Pointer it appears deteknix has not rested on ones lorals like some of the bigger brands and have a NEW metal detector coming...........

http://www.deteknix.com/

I know there are lots of members here who would not touch anything made in China and thats their loss however those of you that have used the X-Pointer, know that good things do come out of China...... & they do -

I think this new detector might just have some keen interest & if its coming from deteknix its certainly backed up by fantastic service & support -

Also agree. Had a Garrett pinpointer and loads of trouble with falseing. Fortunately I lost it in the tide and replaced with a Detecknix 4 months ago and find it very, very reliable.

Just a quick update on some of their newer products which I look forward to trying to pick holes in - lol

Diamond Digger -

Wireless Headphones -

As for their waterproof Pointers, they are doing some fine tuning on the pointers at this stage and should be available in the near future - I will keep you guys posted as I find out more -

Probably around $130 - $150ish

I am getting a set in to test and review in the next couple of weeks so hopefully I will be able to let you know how well they perform - If I think there is too much lag/delay in signal I wont stock them - Hopefull the Diamond Diggers will retail around the $50 - $60ish complete with sheath - Again if it goes well I will add it tom my website

FMDF Members prices are negotiable on the list prices and I will endeavour to cut a deal your happy with if possible - Hope this helps - Prices are dependant on how far our dollar keeps falling lol

I have used both of the Garrett carrot and the deteknix.
For my sort of detecting at beach, park and playgrounds the deteknix is the better of the two.
The garrett needs to be ground balanced for pinpointing in the salty water in the bottom of beach holes and modern 10c get it so worked up that it starts chirping its heart out from 6inches away. Useful sometimes but in the bark not so much. It just seems that pinpointing on the deteknix is more accurate.
The falsing issue hasn't appeared in the carrot yet AFAIK. I get the odd stray chirp but that's usually a ground balance issue. Don't worry the Garrett is a excellent pinpointer but I having used both would choose the deteknix as the better all round pinpointer.
Cost and ccustomer service is a big advantage to the deteknix also. Why garrett nz can't offer a discount on accessories when you buy a detector? I have spent over $1500 in their store now and I always feel like I am inconveniencing them when I buy something. "Please sir may I buy a coil? Shop assistant rolls eyes "hang on ill get the other guy"
it seems like except for the ttechnician who services the Garrett s the other shop aassistants don't want to serve you if you're not a pig or a screw.
I eagerly await the release of the new waterproof deteknix pinpointer with a fist full of lawnmower chewed dollars in my hand.

In response to the deteknix waterproof pointer -

There was some initial fine tuning that needs to be carried out on the waterproof ones, hence the current hold up on them not being available at this time - not far away -

On the subject of the Garrett pinpointers, an episode of "How it works" aired last week (I think) that showed them assembling and testing stuff at the Garrett factory. The security wand (similar to the pinpointer) had an internal pushbutton that was pressed during testing to calibrate the coil to the unit.

It might be that pressing that button might eliminate falsing by re-calibrating the coil if there's an equivalent button on the pinpointer (I can't remember - it's been a while since I had my one apart).
