Roger, are you talking about a sluicebox that you shovel gravel into, or a dredge with a motor?

There isn't any DOC allocated gold fossicking sites in the North Island. It sucks for a Taranaki boy like myself. Looking at going to Aorere River DOC site next year.

the Aorere looks good , but you need to be fitter than I , I walked to the brown hut(start of the Heaphy?track) found a bit of colour, looked at the first site but decided that scrambling down to the river was beyond me. there are easier places to play and have fun.
