Well, I'm going to pack a bag and head into the bush.
Want to go up the Coromandel Ranges, for fitness as much as finding anything. Also I know there is a lot of metal junk which will be good to learn about the different squeals my detector makes.

Hope I won't fall down any old mine shafts.

Any advice would be welcome.

Preface:
Tested my detector in Auckland on my local beach 3x4m, the neighbouring 3x9m beach was busy with fishermen.
But this one was more private. There is a lot of volcanic iron veins which is visble through the mostly clay cliffs.
Got about 12 targets, sun was going down though, I figured most were probably large veins of iron or big bits of junk as there was some concreting about.
I decided to just poke my pointer into the shallow marks and dig for the easiest targets.
I found some aluminium piece off a boat, and a chunk of iron ore with some jasper & obsidian bits attached. Another small item got lost as I dug it out.
