Completely off-topic - just as well I added this general section eh!

Can anyone recommend an ACC advocate that can help me with the dispute process with ACC? I've found a few options in Christchurch, but it's always good to get first hand recommendations if they're available.

Hopefully not too many of you have had to experience this process of course!

Thanks in advance for any advice.

P.S. It's regarding a hip labral tear for any nosy buggers that are curious. Want to nip it in the bud to make sure I don't need a hip replacement further down the track. Original injury sustained during a Muay Thai competition fight last year. Apparently I'm getting a bit old for that shit :P

True, did ya get a good kickin..
Paying them money is easy after they threaten you on the phone and by mail. Receiving funds could be a tough one. Best of luck.

Can't help with Chch area, but from my battle with them, keep copies of every single scrap of correspondence, no matter how trivial - They 'lost' critical records of mine twice(!) and without a secure paper trail, I would have been up for a couple of grands worth of MRI.

(And like me, you're not getting old, the competition are just getting younger and faster :)

Best of luck.

Cheers for the advice.

Just trying to get ACC to cover the costs of surgery to get tear sorted. Not chasing them for money thankfully. But will be bloody expensive if I have to shell out for the surgery myself.

My sister inlaw needed knee surgery and they said no. She got a lawyer, then they changed their mind.
I could get you the lawyers details if you want.

Cheers for that - much appreciated, but I've got someone sorted now. Been recommended a Tim Yates so hopefully he'll steer me well through the process.

got a mate who tried acc for an injury aggravated at work. no way they would pay. ACC is just a money making venture now. they are a bunch of bastards. went through reviews. got a lawyer just had a meeting with them and will know the result in 2 weeks. he said you could tell they weren't going to back down though. they were just going through the legally required motions.

ACC locked the doors to their offices leaving my 5 year old daughter on the outside on a busy city street -

I have to ply doors apart to get to her

three weeks later was prosecuted for - wilful damage and ordered to pay $3100 in restitution however the actual damage (of which I did not know about until the police informed me) was a door had come off the runner and the repair totalled around $250 however the two guys they flew down from Auckland to Invercargill, accomadation, meals and the flight back made up for the extra -

ACC are scum Gavin - Cant help with advocate but John Miller Law is supposed to be the guy if you need a lawyer

Ah, it ain't too bad yet. Just having a bad run. Just recovering from a ruptured Achilles = on the mend and ACC covered. But also did my hip in last year during a Muay Thai competition fight and ACC aren't keen on fixing that. Just keen to get the hip sorted so hopefully won't do more damage and require me to need a hip replacement further down the line ;) The hip's stopping me from running etc. but as soon as I'm healed enough from the Achilles I'll be back into my gold missions :)

I think my body's trying to tell me to take it a little easier! :P

I seem to have a "Oi, claim jumpers! I've got your rego you know!" etched in my memory :P

Ah, the good old days when I was green and didn't know what I was doing.
