Well I went out with my trusty $30 detector and found my first 2 silver coins and my oldest found coin!16 coins in all. But to top it all off I found 10 of those coins (all of the old ones) by only two trees! I started at the beach with no luck and then went into the park area and had only detect for about 45 minutes and found those 10 coins! all the new coins were found on the beach. I also found a wedding ring! not sure whether it is gold or silver (I did the magnet test). Enjoy the pics!

Sorry but my computer ate my one photo with the keys and the 4.70 of coins.

Yeah it has an inscription on it "ANA - BEBE 28-03-08" but no other markings it is silvery in colour so it could be silver but seeing that it is a wedding ring it could be white gold.

Oh yeah one other thing I found were a couple of rocks... I thought that there might be something under them but the two rocks were actually giving off the signal... they appear to be normal black rock... any ideas????

Just found out that the ring is 18K 7.6g! which is about $400!!! Guess that means I will be getting a better detector sooner than I thought! not bad for only a $30 detector!

I find quite a few of similar rocks around Auckland. Possibly our volcanic background causing a metallic content of some sort.

"Hot Rocks" I come across a few on the island beaches as well. If they are pitch black and look encrusted with bits of shell on them then they are corroded iron or similar metal and normally contain something inside them if broken apart. Normal hot rocks look just like any other rock laying around the area but are conductive.

Meteorites are also meant to give off a nice signal!

Congrats on the ring! Let it be one of many more :)

Alright the verdict is out about that ring and it is final. It IS 18k and 7.3g! I had it re-polished, the engraving sanded down and re-stamped here are some pics of it now.
