Hi guys, me and a mate are heading down Dunedin way and thought we would try some prospecting while we were there. Were thinking of giving Gabriel's Gully a run but heard there was plenty to be had further north in the Naseby-Dansey's pass areas? We haven't tried our luck in Otago before so are unfamiliar with prospecting in the area. Any tips on places to try would be much appreciated.

Cheers

First have a look at the permit webmap to see what's claimed so you don't jump on other people's claims. This will also let you a few creeks that have gold in them. Often you can go above or below claims and or try tributary streams.
And now....On sandy beaches and muddy soil, rings and coins await my coil!

There is a claim on the Kyeburn, so check where that runs, before putting your spade in so to speak.
