Found what I thought was a locket but turns out to be a pocket watch. Shame its all rusty inside. Cant make out a name but has a hammer type hallmark and the number beside the carat is illegible....it looks about the same colour as my 9 carat ring. Wish I could identify it. Any ideas? The face still has readable digits but cant see a name.

The fact that it is full of rust is of little consequence because it might be really old and if so another watch in a cheaper case might be able to be recased in your gold case. In any case (not gold case) it can still go into your treasure container with all the other goodies you are going to find.

True....its definately a conversation piece. I noticed after about an hour that the date is actually xmas 1933....funny how 25.12.33 didnt register as xmas.

Some poor sod lost his/ her pride and joy - probably a heartbreak at the time. Good powers of observation and deduction re the 25.12.33 as I might have taken it as a registration number or identification number placed on it by the Jeweller or watchmaker who sold it but yes I am sure that you will be quite correct.
