Hi all new to here, so in the past I've been happy walking up rivers down beaches rock hopping, think I might like to try dredging but have no idea where to find rules etc, so looking for some advice..... What's the rules for dredging on rivers that cross private land, doc land, rivers in general same with beaches, what gear do you recommend for some starting out some thing portable, what is the effect on the river sorry all lots of questions.

Any help greatly received.

Cheers all.

quick answer. you cant. need your own piece of dirt or permission to go on a claim. as far as I know all the public areas don't allow dredging. anywhere else and its illegal. if you have access to a claim the rules for dredges may be on www.nzpam.govt.nz . no doubt ill be quickly corrected if im wrong.
