Here's my little lot from the day. Checked out a new location with Erickd. It was hard going but shows potential. First signal was an 1854 half penny followed by a musket ball.
Then we travelled to an old faithful spot. I dug three silvers, an old lead bullet and lots of other stuff.

Night hunt tonight with Erickd and Kev at a well known Christchurch park. Hard going but we all ended up with a bit of silver.
The old girl just keeps on giving!

Hagley hunt last night with Foiled Again, Chrispy and Coinnut...cheers guys. Managed five silvers, four bucks, a brass ring and a cool old .835 (unusual silver grade but Googled it, and it's ligit) silver ring with sapphire or more likely, topaz...very happy.

GL & HH

pp....The silver grade for the ring most likely originates in Germany around WW1, as they lessened the silver content during war rationing......or so I've been told.

Thanks mate. It was a real jumpy signal as it was lying on an angle about 6 inches or so down. Didn't pick it as silver let alone a ring!
What makes you think India silver? I've tried googling it but there is no particular reference that I can find relating .835 specifically to India or that region. Every reference I have seen seems to refer to Northern Europe for this % content.

lol....yeah mate, the great nation that is India, certainly has some funny ideas and ways about things. I can see why you'd suspect it to have come from that region...could well have!

Cheers mate yeah, it's just a shame the ring is so small (about the diameter of a threepence).
The wife loves it but it is just to small, even for her delicate little finger.
She even joked that it was like trying on Cinderella's glass slipper......something was going to give.....and it wasn't gonna be her foot!...lol

Not sure what it is yet mate. Could also read PTHS maybe? Do you know what it Is?
It had a pin across the back, so it was worn as a badge.
