My little lot from tonight's club hunt.
All the silvers from one hole including the non silver half crown. Hard work overall but an enjoyable hunt....cheers all and happy hunting.

Solo hunt this arvo for a couple of hours out in the whops. Three silvers and an old disintegrating brass locket. Paper backing inside the locket is still readable but whatever picture was on the other side is long gone. Tried Googling the details but got no result.
Not sure if there is a connection between "blake" and Hawke's Bay......any ideas?

R Blake was a prolific photographer for the Auckland Weekly News in the early 1900's.
I'd say it's a scenic shot of Hawkes Bay (#18 in the series) from the first decade.

I've run through all my research links but nothing with a significant portion of any of the text comes up - strange to have a locket with scenery as the image though, maybe a kids locket as a holiday memento?
It could also just be a backing paper to 'pad out' a thinner photo, although the alignment is too central for that I think.

Night hunt with Erickd and Chrispy. Happy to come home with six silvers and an 1879 Vicky penny. Was real hard work in a well hunted spot, so very happy with the result.

All day hunt with Erickd.
Checked out (mountain goated) a new location with pretty much a nil result, so back to the old faithful spot that just keeps on giving. Ended the day on six silvers, a very old and broken silver bangle a cool old toy flintlock gun, a possible gold watch, an RAF badge, an old lead bullet and the usual pennies and other bits.
Cheers Eric, for another very enjoyable day.

That is a very cool gun.
Just be careful, police require that you have a replica licence for anything that looks like a gun, even if it's welded to a plaque (except bb guns which is a bit ridiculous).
Be on the safe side and pop in and ask them about it.

Here's my little lot from a from an icy early start, to the days hunt at a new permission with Erickd.
What we hoped was going to be a silver bonanza, turned out to be hard work. The permission is on private land now but 30 years ago it was public....guess the 70's and 80's detectorists got to it first....can't win em all I guess...lol.
Ended the day with three silvers, three military buttons, a military webbing buckle and a couple of old aluminium thimbles. Very happy with my little lot.

Pretty damn happy with the final cleanup from the day out with Erickd. We hit a new spot that had been on the radar for quite a while. Not as much silver as we had hoped but still an awesome day full of surprises. The last thing I expected to find was a bottle dump. I got a typically good penny signal and dug down around 7 inches. As I dug, I got that familiar metal on glass scratch sound.
Long story short, from under the penny emerged a total of ten bottles...all baby feed and chemist related. The penny that gave (as in X-marks the spot) the indication of a bottle hoard is dated 1885 but I have since found out that the bottles all date from around 1900-1910.
Also of note for the day was a cool old sterling silver hat pin/badge/clip thingy with a cool ornamental enameled stone at the centre...and two nice 1934 NZ sixpences.
Stoked with a great bunch of awesomeness!
