Cheers mate, real stoked with the bottles and the silver enameled badge thingy. It's like you said though about your number of silver finds......it's 50% luck in walking over the target and 50% being in tune and knowing what to listen for.

Fabulous bottles N8, it looks like they have cleaned up mint as. Hope you still have some spare display space for them.

Enjoyable days hunt with Erickd. Tried a new location in the am but it turned out to be a bit average...except for the cool NZ Centennial badge and the stunning scenery.
Back to an old faithful spot for the rest of the day...and it didn't disappoint.
Ended up with seven silvers including a nice surprise. What I thought was an NZ Florin, turned out (after the cleanup) to be my first modernish 1953 Oz Florin....attractive coin. Stoked!

Happy hunting everyone.

Certainly was an awesome spot with old history, bit of a shame the best areas where off limits.

Yeah, true but it would be a very interesting place to go back to, just to see and get some pic's of the old remote graveyard. Not too many Cantabs, let alone us "blow-ins" from the other provinces, are aware of the incredible historical significance of that area. A lot of suffering and death went on amongst Canterbury's earliest settlers in that canvas quarantine encampment, set among those hilltops and bluffs in the 1860's.

Cheers mate, Yeah the last two hunts have resulted in some pretty spectacular finds from some stunning locations. We've had to work for the results though. Plenty of near vertical cliffs to negotiate in order to locate the good stuff........but well worth the efforts!
